Agronomy Workshop – Pesticide Applicator Recertification (PARP)
Agronomy Workshop – Pesticide Applicator Recertification (PARP) and CCH Credits and Dicamba Training Available
February 28th 2018 (6:30-9:00pm)
Location: Clark County 4-H Fairgrounds (9608 Highway 62, Charlestown, IN 47111)
With farm profit margins getting razor thin by the day, crop and livestock farmers have been grappling with how to stay profitable. How, when, where and what rates of P and K fertilizer application is most likely to maximize returns? How will N fertilizer be applied to be most efficient in the use of this fertilizer? How and when will P and K be applied to get the best out of pastures? How do we assess the nutrient contribution of manure to our crops and pastures so as to economically combine manure use with the use of N, P and K fertilizers? With each cropping season, these questions and many more have become the norm among farmers and no longer the exception.
To help answer some of these questions, Clark County Extension will host an Agronomy workshop jointly with Purdue University, Department of Agronomy on February 28 at 6:30pm. Dr. Jim Camberato will be the main speaker. His topic “Using soil test and the N rate calculator to spend fertilizer dollars wisely” will cover how soil test can be used to put P and K fertilizer where it is most likely to return profit in the short term, the most efficient methods of N application and how to choose an economical N rate. Jim will also touch on how to value the nutrient contributions of manure to crops.
Simon Kafari, Clark County ANR Extension Educator will do the Mandatory Dicamba training which will enable pesticide users to get recertification credits as well as be able to use any of the Dicamba products. The mandatory Dicamba training is required before pesticides applicators can use any Dicamba products.
All Dicamba product users should note that even if they have all their recertification credits, they would still need to attend the Dicamba training to be able to use Dicamba products going forward. They will not need to pay for this training except that they are seeking PARP credits. Non-certified applicators and Registered Technician who will be using Dicamba products will also need to attend this training at no cost to them. There is a $10 charge for PARP credits. Please bring your pesticide applicator license with you if you need recertification credits.
Although the workshop is free, registration is required to attend as a minimum number is required for the program to come on. To register for this event, or if you have questions about the event, please call the Clark County Extension office (812-256-4591). You may also register by sending an e-mail to Skafari@purdue.edu. Should you need a reasonable accommodation to participate in this event, prior to the day of the workshop, please contact the Extension office.
