10th Street Closure in Jeffersonville begins Tuesday
JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind.—10th Street is scheduled to close for up to 15 days (Beginning June 12th) between Main and Penn Street as part of the $13.5 million Local Public Agency (LPA) reconstruction project sponsored by the City of Jeffersonville. Traffic will detour around the construction site via Nachand Lane, 8th Street and Penn Street. Main Street businesses can be accessed from 8th Street and Penn Street.
During the closure, Dave O’Mara—Jeffersonville’s contractor—will remove and replace 10th Street pavement at the Main Street intersection, and mill and replace the asphalt surface on 10th Street between Main and Penn Street.
When reopened, 10th Street will be configured with two thru lanes and a center left turn lane. New traffic signals will have been installed at the Main Street intersection. And French Street, Howard Avenue, Morningside Drive and Cherry Lane be open to 10th Street.
The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) pays a percentage of construction costs for LPA projects. The sponsoring local agency is responsible for a percentage of matching funds. The Indiana Department of Transportation administers FHWA monies and provides oversight to assure compliance with federal standards. Supervisory responsibilities have been contracted to United Consulting, an Indianapolis-based engineering firm.
