US 31 Small Structure Project Slated To Begin August 1
A pre-construction meeting brought Indiana Department of Transportation officials together with Dave O’Mara Contractor personnel and a design consultant at Seymour District offices this week to discuss plans for replacing a small bridge on U.S. Highway 31 with a 14 X 7-foot concrete box culvert. Bridge removal and culvert installation operations will require a 10-day closure.
The North Vernon-based contractor plans to begin operations at the U.S. 31 bridge site—located 1.35 miles north of Memphis Road in Clark County—on August 1. A proposed scheduled shows work being completed by the Labor Day weekend. Indiana’s contract for this $333,969 small structure replacement project has a completion date of October 31.
During the 10-day closure, motorists will be detoured around the U.S. 31 worksite via Interstate 65 between the Memphis Road and Sellersburg exits.
